General Information
Who can participate in the trip?
If you are between 14 and 17 years old and are ready to step out of your comfort zone, this journey is for you.
How long does the trip last?
Our journey covers half a school year – from October to April. The 2026/27 trip will start at the beginning of October and end in late March.
Which countries will we visit?
We sail through Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and North and South America. The exact route depends on wind and weather, making the adventure even more exciting!
School and Learning
How does the on-board learning work?
You will follow your regular curriculum, aligned with your home school’s requirements. Classes take place in small groups, and our teachers provide individual support. You will also take exams to ensure you maintain your academic progress.
Are language courses offered?
Yes, you can improve your English and Spanish to C1 level and even earn certificates.
Personal Development
What do you gain from the trip?
You’ll develop essential skills like teamwork, self-discipline, the ability to make decisions, and cultural awareness – all of which will benefit you in life.
How are conflicts resolved on board?
Conflicts are addressed through open communication and teamwork, supported by teachers and the crew. This helps everyone understand the importance of good communication skills.
Activities and Experiences
What special activities are offered?
Look forward to jungle hikes, visits with local communities, island hopping, social projects, volcano tours, and cultural workshops. One highlight follows another!
Are there service-learning projects?
Yes, for example, you can help protect sea turtles in Cape Verde or support local initiatives in Panama. This way, you leave a positive impact and learn a great deal in the process.
Practical Information
How much does participation cost?
Participation costs €26,000. You’ll find all the details about payment options here.
How is safety ensured?
Our ship meets strict safety standards, and our crew is well trained. On longer passages, a doctor will accompany us.
How can you stay in touch with your family?
You’ll be able to communicate regularly with your parents via email or Starlink.
Will you receive a packing list?
Yes, we will provide you with a detailed packing list before the trip so you are well prepared.
How can you prepare for the trip?
During the summer holidays, you can participate in a one-week sailing tour on the Baltic Sea to find out if life on board suits you. If you’re interested in a summer trip, just let us know!
How can you finance the trip?
We offer special courses where you’ll learn how to find sponsors and cover the costs yourself. Get in touch if you’d like more information!
What if you get seasick?
Seasickness is common at the start. Your body quickly adapts to the movement of the waves. If necessary, we have medication on board.
What if you feel homesick?
Homesickness is normal, especially in the beginning. You can always contact your parents via our satellite system. We’ll also help you settle in and feel comfortable on board.
