YOUR STAY ABROAD ON A SAILING SHIP
Instead of a traditional year abroad with a host family, this extraordinary educational program offers the opportunity to discover the world on a sailing ship.
On board the tall ship Regina Maris, you will travel through different countries for six months and experience a unique combination of school education and intercultural adventure.
Together with 32 other young people aged 14 to 17 (secondary level I and II) you will sail across the Atlantic from October to April – to the Caribbean and back.
Lessons don't stay on land; they're integrated directly into daily life on board. This way, you won't miss any schoolwork and can return to your home school without any gaps in your knowledge – enriched by valuable experiences, unforgettable memories, and a true adventure on the high seas!
SAFELY ON COURSE
On the Regina Maris, you won't just be a passenger, but an active crew member, experiencing sailing up close! Under the guidance of the experienced crew, you'll take on important tasks: setting sails, steering, and course planning using real navigation instruments. Daily life on board is characterized by teamwork – everyone takes responsibility, whether in the galley, navigating, or on deck. This fosters team spirit, communication, and problem-solving skills .
Safety measures such as life jackets, emergency drills, and training ensure a safe environment. Challenges like wind and weather foster independence, new perspectives, and build self-confidence. For 17 years, we have been sailing the Regina Maris across the Atlantic to the Caribbean – and every year, students get to be part of this unforgettable journey! We are proud to take young travelers on the adventure of a lifetime and introduce them to the world.
NAUTIC HORIZONS - YOUR STAY ABROAD
Nautic Horizons is a unique educational project that offers you the opportunity to combine your stay abroad with academic training and intensive sailing experience . With us, your regular curriculum continues just like at home, while you discover the world at sea and on land.
In an inspiring, international environment , you, as a student, will sail around the world for 183 days – completely without parental supervision and with limited mobile phone use. This creates space for real adventures, intense encounters, and valuable personal experiences that will shape you in a lasting way.
The rural projects are selected to help you discover and develop your own talents . You will become more open-minded, gain intercultural experience, and develop valuable skills.
Our mission is to offer you a transformative learning experience that goes far beyond traditional classroom teaching. Here , education, adventure, and personal development merge into an unforgettable experience. You'll not only develop specialist knowledge but also essential soft skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and intercultural understanding – qualities that will optimally prepare you for your future.

OUR STORY
We – Marie and Rona – founded Nautic Horizons with a clear vision: to encourage young people to leave their comfort zone , discover the world and grow personally – without falling behind in their schooling.
Our own journey in 2012/2014 on this very ship was a time full of adventure, challenges, and unforgettable moments. It not only shaped us but also showed us how much travel can broaden one's horizons. We want to pass on this experience to a new generation of young explorers who are ready to push their boundaries.

For over 17 years, the Regina Maris has sailed across the Atlantic to the Caribbean – captained by Martin Duba and an experienced crew. For many years, we have accompanied young people on this unique journey, ensuring with our expertise and safety standards that they sail safely and have an unforgettable experience in the Caribbean and back.
Our carefully selected land-based projects offer participants valuable insights into diverse cultures and provide in-depth learning experiences outside the classroom. Our many years at sea have taught us what truly matters – and this knowledge is incorporated into every detail of Nautic Horizons.
We can proudly say: Nautic Horizons is far more than a journey. It is an educational project that helps you grow – personally, culturally, and as a human being.
