About the Foundation

Stichting Nautic Horizons Education was established to give young people access to a broad and enriching education at sea, regardless of their financial circumstances.

At the heart of the foundation's work is the educational project "Nautic Horizons – School at Sea", which combines classroom learning with practical experience, intercultural exchange and personal development.

The foundation manages donations and financial contributions transparently and uses them to help young people participate in this unique educational programme.

Purpose of the Foundation

The foundation operates exclusively for the public benefit. Its aim is to rethink traditional approaches to education and provide young people with valuable learning and life experiences.

The foundation focuses in particular on:

• supporting young people aged 14 to 17 through educational voyages at sea

• combining academic learning with practical experience

• strengthening personal development, self-confidence and teamwork

• promoting intercultural understanding and a global perspective

• collaborating with schools, educational partners and social organisations

 

All funds are used exclusively to fulfil the foundation's objectives.

Activities and Implementation

To achieve its objectives, the foundation:

• raises and manages donations, grants and other financial contributions

• awards full and partial scholarships to young people

• supports educational programmes and projects on board the Regina Maris

• develops partnerships with schools and other organisations

Use of Funds

The foundation's financial resources are primarily used for:

• scholarships and financial assistance for participants

• educational programmes and teaching materials

• the implementation and further development of the educational project

• expanding partnerships and funding opportunities

 

Funds received are allocated and used in a timely manner and in accordance with their intended purpose.

Current Activity Plan

Stichting Nautic Horizons Education was established in Amsterdam and has already begun its activities. The foundation has received its first donations to support its educational objectives for the public benefit.

​

The foundation is currently focusing on the following areas:

• Supporting young people: Providing full and partial scholarships to enable young people, particularly those from families with limited financial resources, to participate in the "Nautic Horizons – School at Sea" educational project.

• Supporting educational projects: Providing financial support for educational activities both within and outside formal education, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

• Personal development: Encouraging independence, responsibility, teamwork and social skills through shared learning and living experiences.

• Intercultural exchange: Supporting educational projects and practical initiatives in the countries visited during the voyage, with particular emphasis on knowledge sharing and cooperation with local communities.

• Donations and funding partnerships: Attracting new donors, businesses and charitable organisations to support the educational activities over the long term.

• Collaboration with educational institutions: Building lasting partnerships with schools, social organisations and other educational partners.

 

The foundation is committed to creating new educational opportunities for young people and strengthening the lasting connection between academic learning, practical experience and personal development.

Board of Directors

The foundation's board consists of:

• Heine van der Molen – Chair

• Fabian Tackmann – Secretary

• Matthias Görke – Treasurer

 

All board members serve on a voluntary basis.

They receive no remuneration for their work. Only actual, documented expenses incurred in carrying out their duties are reimbursed.

In accordance with its articles of association, the foundation is represented jointly by two board members.

Remuneration Policy

The foundation operates on a not-for-profit basis.

Board members receive no remuneration for their work. Only actual expenses supported by appropriate documentation are reimbursed.

The foundation currently has no other employees.

​

Financial Management and Transparency

The foundation's regular financial year runs from 1 August to 31 July.

The foundation is committed to managing donations and financial contributions responsibly and transparently.

The first financial report for the 2025/2026 financial year will be published on this website in January 2027.

The foundation has applied to the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration for ANBI status (Public Benefit Organisation).

Financial Position

The foundation's funds are used directly and in accordance with their designated purpose to enable young people to participate in the "Nautic Horizons – School at Sea" educational project.

Articles of Association

The foundation's articles of association are available upon request and may be consulted at any time.

​

By making a donation, you support the work of Stichting Nautic Horizons Education and help young people access exceptional educational experiences, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Your contribution helps fund scholarships, formal and informal educational activities, and intercultural projects on board the Regina Maris and in the countries visited during the voyage.
